About Firestone High School:
All Akron public schools offer a comprehensive curriculum which meets all state requirements. Firestone offers courses in English, Mathematics including Calculus, Social Studies, Science, the Arts, and Health and Physical Education. The Foreign Languages offered at Firestone are Spanish and French.
Firestone has exceptionally strong programs in music, art, dance, and theater. Firestone offers strong Career Education Programs such as Cooperative Business Education, Information Technology, Marketing Education, and Project Lead the Way (Engineering). In addition, 10 Advanced Placement courses are offered. For the students who want the most rigorous curriculum, we are proud to be an International Baccalaureate school. Our ninth class of IB students graduated in 2006. 81% earned the full IB diploma, above the world average of 79.86%.
Firestone has been named in the top 4% of all high schools in the nation by Newsweek (2003, 2005, 2006).
